A generative memoir-style writing circle from Prose City.

In this small, welcoming workshop series, we gather to write from our lives—not to produce polished memoirs (though you might go on to do that!), but to explore the stories, images, and questions that have shaped us. Guided by rich prompts from Natalie Goldberg’s Old Friend from Far Away: The Practice of Writing Memoir, we’ll write in response to memory, emotion, and sensory detail—drawing from the well of lived experience.

The Life Writers Workshop Series is designed for a small group (5–8 people) to foster intimacy, trust, and authentic connection. Sharing some of what you’ve written is always welcome, but never required.

This first “season” will use Goldberg’s book as our shared foundation, but this is just the beginning. If the group wishes, we may continue together across multiple seasons, exploring additional memoir-focused books and writing practices in future arcs.

No prior writing experience is needed—just curiosity, care, and a willingness to put pen to page.

If you would like to join for this, please fill out our interest survey and we’ll follow up. Our start date is TBD, but will most likely be in June 2025.
