Festivals, Fairs, Conventions & Conferences
Annual and recurring gatherings, from book fairs to writing conferences, that bring the literary community together for more than a single evening.
- Ooligan Press Events — Events from “a student-run trade press rooted in the Pacific Northwest dedicated to cultivating the next generation of publishing professionals. We prioritize literary equity and inclusion.”
- Portland Book Festival — Formerly Wordstock. “…the largest celebration of books and storytelling in the Pacific Northwest. Throughout the week, festival-goers will fill downtown for packed conversations… intimate readings, workshops, pop-up events, and more.”
- Portland Book Week — Every June. “Portland’s annual indie bookstore crawl. 10 days of celebrating Portland’s Independent Bookstores culminating in the Rose City Book & Paper Fair.”
- Portland Indie Book and Art Fair — Every June. “Recognizing the plight of the small press, the Portland Indie Book and Art Fair ensures that the participating indie publishers receive 100% of the sale, and are not charged any fee for exhibition space. Furthermore, as a FREE event open to the public, the Book Fair hopes to broaden small press readership… many titles will be offered at discounted prices.”
- Rose City Book & Paper Fair — Every June. “…local and traveling booksellers share your passion for books, and will be presenting their most interesting material, whether it’s underground zines, quirky vintage photo albums, antiquarian tomes, or signed first editions of today’s hottest authors.”
- S2: Small and Self-Publishing Faire — “The Northwest’s Annual Faire for Indie Publishers…we believe in bringing the underrepresented in the Portland publishing community together. Our mission is to support our fellow publishers who are working tirelessly to bring their books into the light, whoever they may be.”
- Willamette Writers Conference — “…more than a weekend of writing. It’s where writers connect with their community, strengthen their craft, and take real steps toward a professional writing career.”
