On Thursday night, the Farmhouse filled with warmth, laughter, and curiosity as we gathered for the inaugural Undercurrent Salon — what some of you may remember from our early conversations as the “Grand Salon,” to differentiate it from our petit salon, the Confluence Café. Fifteen of us circled up with snacks, drinks, and music, ready to dive into our theme for the evening: unanswerable questions.
Each person slipped their handwritten question into a bowl — small mysteries, big dilemmas, whimsical wonders. We drew from the bowl at random. The asker shared why their question mattered to them, and then we let the room unfold around it. For about fifteen minutes at a time, conversation spun outward: thoughtful, playful, sometimes profound, always connective. We made it through three questions together, and we’ve posted the full list to the event page for those who attended and want to keep pondering the questions we didn’t get to.
It was a gorgeous evening — the kind that reminds us why Prose City exists: to create spaces where ideas, stories, and people intersect in surprising and joyful ways.
This is just the beginning. The Undercurrent Salon will surface again, roughly quarterly, each time circling a new theme and a different approach. If you couldn’t be there this time, we hope you’ll consider joining us next season.
