a periodical reading club

The new Slow With the Flow periodical reading club is a small gathering for those of us who love the wonderful world of prose, poetry, and other forms of writing that fill the pages of so many wonderful magazines and other periodicals.

We have a deep love of books and our lives and spaces are filled with them, but it seems that there are also more incredible periodicals than ever that are publishing established authors and introducing the world to new voices.

Right here in Oregon there are more than 20 active literary journals and magazines, with at least that many more no longer publishing, but many still have their archives available to read online. Poets & Writers Magazine lists hundreds more, and that does not include magazines like the New Yorker, Sun Magazine, Harper’s Magazine and others.

Please note that we intentionally keep this small — aiming for 6 to 10 people. If you would like to join us, please let us know via our interest form and we’ll be in contact!

Please carefully read our community agreements here.

We don’t charge for our events. All time, labor, and expense is an offering from the Prose City crew to the community. We don’t publish the event details (date, time, location) publicly, but only to those who will be attending.
